"What are we bidding on?" - Asked by #6818133 11/29/2017 04:05 PM |
A: |
The bid is for the removal of the buildings down to the foundations. As stated in the Bid Request, the bid is for, “ the deconstruction, salvage and/or recycling, and removal of two blighted buildings. Deconstruction entails diverting materials from the landfill in order to recycle or reuse them. The deconstruction will create an opportunity for “upcycling” of materials rather than simply recycling.
Upon execution of a contract, the structures,( i.e., all salvageable, recyclable, and non-recyclable materials (i.e., waste)), excluding the foundations, becomes the property of the Contractor. Materials salvaged also become the property of the Contractor and revenues generated by the sale or donation of materials (cash value of deductions in the latter case) shall be paid to the Contractor. It is anticipated that parts of the structure (i.e., wooden, hand-hewed, beams and siding, etc.) may have significant value.”
The Town desires that the buildings be ‘deconstructed’ to the maximum extent possible so reusable material can be offered for profit by the bidder as reconstruction material for other projects. The Town expects that, due to the value of the century-old building material used to construct the buildings that can be salvaged for resale by bidder, the bid price can be significantly reduced, or even offered as payment to the town if the value of the salvaged material exceeds the cost of deconstruction.

"To perfectly clear on this auction. The successful Bidder is paying to demo the building and is responsible to recycle as much of the material as possible. " - Asked by #13890677 12/08/2017 11:56 AM |
A: |
Yes, the bidder pays the cost of deconstruction and takes possession of all material from the deconstruction with the goal of recycling or re-purposing of as much material as practicable with all proceeds from sale or credit going to the bidder.

"So what happens to the materials that are not useable. Is the bidder taking on the cost of disposal? has there been any lead paint or asbestos testing done?" - Asked by #562790 01/09/2018 07:47 PM |
