Item Description
Description/condition: Classic 1960s motor-hotel sign with neon lettering. Condition of neon unknown. Item is in used condition with scratches, peeling paint and other signs of wear. See photo.
Item is sold “as is". Please note condition in item description and photos.
Item may be reviewed from the parking lot at 5739 Lyndale Ave S, Minneapolis, MN.
- Buyer shall be responsible for safely and professionally dismantling or otherwise removing, loading and hauling away the sign. The steel and masonry base can remain.
- Buyer shall schedule and coordinate removal with the county, with removal to be completed during normal weekday business hours no later than May 1, 2023.
- County shall complete electrical disconnections prior to removal by buyer.
- Prior to removal, the buyer shall provide to the county a written plan for the removal, including a safety plan.
- The site is not occupied. Buyer and buyer’s contractors shall provide all equipment, labor and incidentals required to safely remove the sign and protect the general public and other property.
- Buyer shall provide any permits required by applicable authorities having jurisdiction, with the exception of electrical permits, which shall be provided by the county or the county’s electrical contractor.
- Buyer shall provide a certificate of insurance, naming Hennepin County as additional insured for general liability coverage. See attached insurance requirements.
- Sign needs to be removed between 6/1/2023 and 6/15/2023.
Winning bidder will be contacted by Hennepin County Facility Services staff. A county project manager will be assigned to coordinate to schedule removal. County staff are not available to assist with removal or loading of items.

The buyer will be responsible for securing any required permits from the city of Minneapolis. The buyer will need to provide $2M Commercial Liability Insurance. The County has disconnected the power to the sign. The buyer will need to likely remove bricks as needed to access the framing. Secure sign to crane for removal. Torch sign at connection points for removal. Load onto trailer. Due to the requirement for Commercial Liability insurance and the use of a crane for lifting the sign, the buyer will likely have to hire a contractor to remove the sign.

We are encountering unanticipated delays in securing city authorization for the demolition of the entire site, the sign cannot be removed until the process for the entire site is complete.

What if the selling agency rejects my bid?
If the government agency rejects your bid (they reserve the right to do so) your buyer's fee will be returned, in full, to you within 5 days of notification to Municibid of the rejected bid by the governing body.
