Q:
"Hi couple of questions 1. Is there a letter at the END of the serial number? 2. Do you know how many frame hours it has, NOT what the hour meter reads 3. "
- Asked by #7825128 04/25/2018 01:30 PM
A:
Far as we can see the serial number is as listed... Two serial number plates-one on battery box side and one on side of steering control tower . Also no meter for frame hours...frame,under carriage, idlers, guides etc... all appear to have very little wear at all/or are new , track links/grousers show little if any wear at all....anyone interested can come and look the machine over and verify it's condition....

Q:
"Are you sure of the manufacture date? Will you stand behind the machine being built in 2007? I believe this machine is much older."
- Asked by #5634951 04/26/2018 03:03 PM
A:
Far as we were told by Caterpillar.... We called Cleveland Bros. in Wilkesbarre and Manada Hills and they both did indeed confirm and state that " the build date is 10 May 2007 " and that the machine was " contracted/built through the Dept.of Defense in Ohio " the serial number is listed in the description .Caterpillar Tech. Dept.-- we would think can be called(by anyone interested) to verify this....The military contract may be older but we were told they(Cat) was still able to assemble these as part of that contract... Q:
"Here is the problem "we" are having ...Most likely the contract was to rebuilt the D7G. Most likely this machine was came out of the factory in the early to mid 1980's The rebuild even if it was a Caterpillar "certified rebuild" which generally is performed by a dealer to factory standards, doesn't mean the machine's components only have 190 hours it means the components met the minimum rebuild criteria ... Caterpillar will assign a new serial number and issue it a rebuild year in this case 2007 . The machine could have thousands of hours on it and major components could be used with thousands of hours of "acceptable" at the time of rebuild wear . The good news is your $50,000.00 minimum is reasonable --- The possible lack of fairness is a contractor may buy this machine thinking he is buying a 11 years old machine with 190 original hours when in fact the could be buying a 30 year old machine with thousands of hours and used components . I wont be insulted if this response get's deleted I dont care if I get banned from Municbid what I and others care about is accuracy , truthfulness a level playing ground and in this case make sure the Township doesn't get in trouble !
